Hi! I’m Mike.

I’m a historical and genealogical research specialist living in Independence, Inyo County, California. My particular expertise lies in the history of Inyo and Mono Counties, where I help preserve regional history by locating and interpreting archival records.I hold a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from San José State University with an additional certificate in digital archives.

Throughout my career, I’ve conducted in-depth local history research and digitized rare, fragile materials. I’ve collaborated with institutions like the Inyo County Free Library, the Theodore Roosevelt Center, California Revealed and the Eastern California Museum. Additionally, I have conducted research for rangers at Manzanar National Historic Site and Pioneertown Mountains Preserve. I’ve also done digital archive-related contract work for NPR’s Maximum Fun podcast network.

My work has been published in Inyo Register, Friends of the Eastern California Museum Newsletter, and the North Santiam Historical Society Newsletter.

I welcome research requests and freelance projects. Feel free to review samples of my published work, or contact me to see how I can help with your research project.
